In February 2008 Edge Diamond went live on MADICS. This is now the backbone of their IT system, in both the financial and distribution areas of their business.
Edge specialise in supplying a range of superior quality diamond tipped blades and core cutting drills for their domestic, OEM and international clients. The products are manufactured to meet or exceed ISO 9002 and DSA international standards
The Edge HQ is based in Derby in an impressive glass walled office where a small team of dedicated staff are now using MADICS to control all aspects of the business, from placing and tracking customer’s sales orders, through to placing, emailing and chasing suppliers purchase orders and controlling the stocks, which at any point in time can consist of thousands of products each with technical specifications that are used to ensure the correct blade or drill is used for the job in hand.
The distribution centre consists of a warehouse plus a bonded store, where MADICS Perpetual Inventory is used to control regular stock counts and to ensure accuracy for the monthly Customs and Excise returns.
Edge currently uses all the financial packages provided by MADICS under phase one of the installation. Phase two will see the implementation of the Inventory Management Suite,which will be used to bring stocks under even tighter control.
The MADICS package was installed on a state of the art LINUX server, which is simply out-performing many of the more expensive higher end servers in terms of raw processing speed.
